Mirroring, or reflecting back on what others say, is a common way that healthy people create rapport and show feelings of connectedness with others. We may, for example, adopt another person’s facial expressions, body language, and tone to show understanding and empathy.

Narcissists and others with a cluster b personality disorder will take this to a completely different level. These individuals lack a stable and sustaining sense of identity and self-worth, so they look to external sources for validation and esteem. When they find a prospective new partner, they study that person and attempt to reflect back on their target's personality, style, interests, and values.

If you like cooking shows, gardening, camping, and helping at the local animal shelter, so do they! This is how they begin the love-bombing and get you hooked.
