Narcissists have an uncanny ability to get anything they want through a series of manipulations, love-bombing, and many times outright loud-mouth brazen intimidation. This consistent pattern of behavior seems to belie some experts' opinion that the narcissist's lack of self-awareness makes them unaware of their terrible actions. My personal experience tells me such individuals are not only aware of who they are, but they embrace it.

We all have been subjected to the narcissist's mind-numbing tall tales of prestige and greatness. They love bragging about how much better than you they are at EVERYTHING! They shamelessly flaunt their so-called prowess with some of the most obscene showboating you will ever witness.

When you fail to hang on to their every word or look at them with confusion and annoyance, they will respond with contempt. They are outraged that you do not appreciate their superhuman illustriousness. They can not fathom why you don’t see them as anything but amazing. However, on the other hand, the narcissist is fully aware that most people do not consider them special at all, hence all the lies and manipulation.

How can narcissists maintain their inflated self-image even though they know full well how they are perceived by others?
