God and Religion is a Narcissists Wet Dream
Religion allows narcissists to indulge their sadistic urges and satisfy their thirst for significance and power freely and openly.
Claiming to have a special relationship with God is a tremendous tool some types of malignant narcissists and sociopaths use to prop themselves up on a pedestal of grandiosity. They see themselves as God, omnipotent, omniscient, revered, venerated, highly regarded, and awe-inspiring. They emulate the idea of God because it is everything a narcissist could ever want to be.
A narcissist uses their religious belief to manipulate, control and dominate you through fear. It doesn't matter the religion. Even those who do not have a belief in God can be included.
My abuser had zero faith or spirituality. He hated me for having a spiritual practice and he regularly gaslighted me and attempted to take the life out of my faith and replace it with himself in the center.
Anytime I had a spiritual discussion with anyone he would act agitated and angry. He would rudely interrupt and tell friends “Ok, you can stop indulging her.”
