The Narcissist is a Liar… And You Lie For Them

You dismissed the red flags because they threatened the reality that you wanted to believe in, so you lied about the narcissist.

I named my podcast and website Unliving the Lie because when you recover from narcissistic abuse, you are in essence unliving all the lies and bullshit they fed you. You are reconnecting with the reality the narcissist attempted to steal from you.

I remember how painful it was to peel back all the delusions and falsehoods and look at truths. Big truths about how a narcissist is just a fictional person, and how I lied about him to protect the lie I was living.

So let’s look at the narcissist’s position in all of this

Narcissists do not have an inner-self. They create a constructed image of who they would like to be. They need to be seen as a superior person deserving of special treatment and exemption from any criticism. The narcissist as a fictional character is above reproach.

The narcissist will suffer a narcissistic injury, and go into a narcissistic rage if their perfect superior mirage is challenged. Narcissists can’t tolerate their narratives and their constructed version…
