While narcissists work incredibly hard to exude proof of their power and self-confidence to others, they truly harbor some very significant secret fears. These fears will compel a narcissist to employ enormous effort to avoid the risk of exposure. They will do anything in order to maintain their false sense of superiority.

What exactly are a narcissist’s secret fears?

Loss of Your Admiration

Narcissists feed heavily on the admiration of their partners and they expect extravagant praise even for the most mundane things. Without other people, they are nothing. That’s why one of the biggest fears for narcissists is the complete lack of veneration from others.

When they notice that a partner’s interest in them or enthusiasm for them is waning, they become desperate to be put back up on their proverbial pedestal.

During my relationship with a narcissistic sociopath, I realized early that little things drove him into a state of anxiety and fear. Wanting to go into the bedroom to be alone or talking on the phone with a friend was interpreted to be intentional acts of disrespect towards him.

It’s that feeling of total irrelevance and unimportance that frightens narcissists so much. As a result, they will resort to some pretty nasty behaviors if they feel…
