The Narcissists Insatiable Need for Significance

Narcissists are empty shells that try to act in caring ways, in an attempt to be seen as an amazing person. This is what drives them, and they employ faux kindness to feed that veracious appetite for worship and praise.

Normal people with healthy levels of empathy are generally helpful and thoughtful people. Narcissists, on the other hand, don't have that motivation due to their lack of empathy. Yet, by being or appearing to be helping and caring, a narcissist can get others to thank them and cheer them on for being such a nice person.

Whether they actually help others or care how these people really feel is irrelevant to the narcissist. What matters is getting narcissistic supply. AKA significance!

When something is significant it is worthy of attention and has importance. Narcissists do not have a core inner self so they crave love and worthiness through the eyes of others. This is not to be confused with people pleasing, which has its roots in codependency. Narcissists are constantly vying for the approval of others so they can fill the empty black hole inside of them.

Imagine how mentally exhausting it must be to constantly have to mirror other people and pretend to have their identical ethics and standards. Narcissists are the most insecure people on the planet despite their…
