The Self-Aware Narcissist is Still a Narcissist.

The narcissist may grow aware of certain behaviors that are dysfunctional, or self-defeating, but will never develop an understanding of their toxic behavior.

If you’re on social media, you’ve probably seen the influencers that have branded themselves as “self-aware” ‘healed’ narcissists. They dole out “advice” and “education” on narcissistic abuse and offer validation to abuse survivors. Some have become very popular and gathered an impressive following of grateful and thankful fans.

Is this guidance real or is it just another way for a Cluster B disordered person to eat up supply from thousands of vulnerable followers?

First let’s be clear on exactly what narcissistic personality disorder is.

1. Grandiosity

Narcissists believe they are “special” people that can only be understood by other special people. They cannot tolerate anything average or ordinary. They only want to associate and be associated with other high-status people, places, and things.

This is more than just arrogance and vanity. Grandiosity is an unrealistic sense of superiority.
