Why My Dog is The Love of My Life
“Over the years I have felt the truest, purest love — the love of God, really, I imagine that’s what God’s love feels like — is the love that comes from your dog.” ~ Oprah Winfrey
Oprah Winfrey really just said it best. The love I feel from my dog could only be compared to the purest form of adulation and devotion, which some call God. I have had many dogs throughout my life, but none have so captured my heart like this beautiful and feisty Doberdor I call Duncan.
I am fully aware that my furry child is not a human. If my house were to catch on fire you can be damn sure I’d be grabbing my children first, with my dog right beside me helping.
Duncan is an integral part of my family; his life matters to my children and me.
Now, my dog can’t clean my house, he can’t tell me I need to make an appointment with the dentist and he can’t pay my bills. He can however fill my life with enough happiness and joy to make all mundane life responsibilities easier to get done.
“He is just a dog, Candace,” a former boyfriend said in a fit of jealousy. “Why do you give him more attention than me?”
