Why Narcissists Never Forgive

Narcissists hold things over your head so they can remain superior to you.

Narcissists don’t have the capacity to forgive. They will hold shit over your head, often perceived slights that never happened, so they can remain in the superior position at all times. Narcissists are a false self and if they forgive and forget something, in any way, they lose that sense of feeling superior. To a narcissist, that means the death of their false self.

When a narcissist believes you have wronged them it creates a need within them to reassert and prove their dominance. They must remind you who’s in charge of the relationship.

The Entitled Narcissist

In their relationships, work, and general dealings with others the narcissist expects extraordinary treatment. They think that just because they are “special” beings, that good things will come their way because they are deserving of favorable outcomes.

Unlike healthy people, that base their self-esteem on their real accomplishments, narcissists' high self-appraisals are unrealistic. They don’t really deserve the victories and attention they lust after because they demand it from others without ever earning it.
