Why The Narcissist Expects You To Be a Mind Reader.
Narcissists have the expectation that you should prioritize their needs, thoughts, feelings and emotions over your own.
One of the hallmarks of abuse is that the abuser expects the people around them to know exactly what they are thinking and will rage when they don’t.
Narcissists believe that they are better than everyone else and should be treated accordingly. This toxic mindset causes them to presume that they should be a priority and you should automatically know what they are thinking and feeling.
As a result of this expectation, they believe they do not have to communicate their needs with you. When you ask them to clarify or to give you any guidance they will get angry and may even gaslight you into feeling guilty for not meeting their needs.
You are left feeling like you do not measure up and can never do anything right in their eyes.
You will slowly begin to question yourself and start standing on your head in a million different ways to please them, but it’s all for nothing.
The expectation of mind reading seems crazy to healthy thinking people but you need to realize that the narcissist is a deeply and emotionally immature person.
