If you worry that you are a narcissist… you’re probably not.

Narcissists and other toxic individuals have a fragile sense of self. In order to cope, they are compulsively driven to prove they are better than everyone. Yet, they compare themselves to others constantly and when they feel threatened, they will try to make the other person feel worse to elevate themselves.

A narcissist's self-confidence is entirely artificial. They act and speak in a very confident manner, desperate to convince you that they know what they are talking about. If you are educated on the subject in question, it quickly becomes apparent that everything they are saying is a pathetic joke.

They do this to appear superior. They need you to believe that they are experts.

But you’re not buying it anymore.

This is when the abuse starts. You are beginning to see them for the fraud that they are.

When you question the narcissist they are now exposed and injured and they will be quick to falsely and maliciously criticize you. They need to discredit you and make you feel awful so they can feel secure with themself
