The best way to put a narcissist in their place is to refuse to play their games.
When you have spent a large part of your life with a narcissist, you find yourself at a point where you just want them to know they can’t mess with you anymore. You desperately want to put them in their place. You want to knock them off of the arrogant faux pedestal they have put themselves on.
You’re emotionally exhausted and weary from their constant criticism and drama. In your mind, it is time to stand up for yourself and end their wretched attacks on your character once and for all!
I understand because I have been there. You want to send the message that you’re not going to take their abuse anymore. However, you need to be very careful how you do this. Do not attempt to counter their arguments because when you do that you play right into their hands.
When a narcissist is attacking you it is natural to want to defend yourself. You know you are a worthy person and they just need to learn to respect you. Sadly, a narcissist will never see you as their equal. They lack empathy and are just not teachable.
